Affordable Housing Solutions Enabled In The Bellingen Shire

Bellingen Shire Council in partnership with the Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution and the local Housing Matters Action Group have advocated to both State and Federal Governments regarding the housing crises in the Bellingen Shire and the importance of funding a major project to address this issue.

Today marked a milestone with an announcement of $10 million for up to 40 homes in 50/50  funding by the NSW and Australian Government with initial work anticipated to commence early in 2022.

Council has also secured the support of the Mid North Coast Joint Organisation to conduct a feasibility study for the establishment of a community land trust with work to commence also in early 2022.

Both of these initiates will go a long way enabling Council’s housing strategy and supporting our community.
